National Promotion Criteria

Something all cadets strive for is advancement in rank. But a lot of cadets (and parents) don't even know that National Promotion criteria exist, and that these must be complied with. So here are the national promotion criteria for all of the cadet ranks, from the LAC to the WO1. It should be noted that local standards (such as participation in optional training or fundraising activities, abilities and potential) can be established by the Commanding Officer and his staff, but that they only add to the national criteria, they do not replace them.

Leading Air Cadet (LAC) 


Corporal (Cpl) 

To be promoted to the rank of Corporal, the LAC must have:

Sergeant (Sgt) 

To be promoted to the rank of Sergeant, the Cpl must have:

Flight Sergeant (FSgt) 

To be promoted to the rank of Flight Sergeant, the Sgt must have:

Warrant Officer Second Class (WO2) 

To be promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer 2nd Class, the FSgt must have:

Warrant Officer First Class (WO1) 

To be promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer 1st Class, the WO2 must have:
