During the 27-28 May weekend 40 of our cadets, escorted by 3 officers, visited Québec City. Here are the first pictures from this trip...(more to come)
Ever wonder what 40 cadets look like at 6 o'clock in the morning? Something like that... (and the worst part is, they didn't sleep much!!!)
Our first stop (after eating at Valcartier and changing into uniform) was the Citadelle. Here our tour guide tells the cadets about the historical significance of the Citadelle...
...which is full of cannons, including Rachel here (don't look for cadet Rachel, it's the cannon behind us).
Following our visit at the Citadelle, Lt Choinière gave us a walking tour of the area around the Parliament Buildings and of the Plains of Abraham. This Martello Tower, which as you can see is simply huge, is right next to the Plains.
After dinner (and an other change of clothing), Lt Choinière acted as a tour guide once again and let a walking tour of Old Québec. One of our stops was the Château Frontenac...
...which happens to be next to the Terrase Dufferin, a large boardwalk lined with cannons. Some of our cadets decided that riding a cannon might be fun (like Sgt D. Eckold, Cpl C. Loney, Sgt D. Parker and Cpl P. Boone on the first one, Cpl M. Shellard, Sgt A. Gignac and Cpl D. Walper on the second one)...
...while other cadets (like LAC D. Eckold) used the time away from their parents to chew on a huge blue gum ball (when I say huge, I mean almost the size of a tennis ball).
And as the day wore off, some of the cadets started getting silly, like Cpl D. Walper, Sgt A. Gignac, Sgt N. Gignac and Cpl P. Tremblay-Chartier giving us a pretty good rendition of the Bohemian Rhapsody (originally by Queen). People actually threw money at them, though we're not sure if it was to encourage them or to make them shut up. Anyways.........
