Well, it took a while, but 742 Sqn once again was named Best Squadron in the Outaouais/Ottawa Valley. LCol (ret'd) Lanthier, treasurer of the Air Cadet League - Outaouais/Ottawa Valley presented the Taylor Trophy to WO1 Fantham and Maj Choinière on behalf of the Squadron. Congratulations to all members of the Squadron!!
Every month we recognize one of the cadets as the Cadet of the Month. The recipient is presented with a montage of stamps commemorating the 75th anniversary of the RCAF.
The winner for the month of March was Cpl J. Eckold, who represented us so well at the Effective Speaking competition. And the winner for the month of April was WO2 S. Carraro, who has been doing a great job of tracking the attendance throughout the year, on top of his responsabilities as an instructor and as supervisor of the Duty Corporal roster. Well done to both of you!!!
In late April both our Competitive Band and our Senior Drill Team participated in a regional competition in St-Jean.
Here is our Band, shortly after leaving the parade grounds where the competition was held. This was the first time in history that a 742 Sqn Band participated in a competition, in this case the Simms trophy. We're still waiting for results, but no matter what we're extremely proud of our Band. Congratulations!!
Here is our Drill Team marching on to the parade grounds...
...and here they are outside after the competition, flanked by the two Drill Team instructors, Lt Choinière and Lt Clermont, as well as the Commander, WO1 Fantham. Well done!!
Just like the Junior Ground School, the Senior Ground School also awards certificates for successfully completing the training curriculum. Our Chief Ground School Instructor, Mr. Speer, poses with the graduates of the 1999-00 SGS programme. Congratulations to all of you!! And thank you very much Mr. Speer!!
