At the end of February, cadets from our Squadron participated in the .22cal mail-in shooting competition. The idea is that the cadets shoot their targets, which are then mailed in to compare with others. 2Lt Choinière kept an eye on the coaches (from L to R) Sgt D. Parker, Sgt S. Godin, Sgt C. Bélanger and Sgt A. Pharand, and on the shooters (from L to R) WO2 D. Parker, Sgt N. Gignac, FSgt V. Murray, WO2 S. Lajeunesse and Cpl T. Ross.
Sgt Pharand proved to be the best marksman, and received $20 from our CO Maj Choinière. Well done!
The Zone Air Rifle Championship is designed to pick the best team and best individual shooters from the Ouaouais/Ottawa Valley to represent the area at the Provincial shooting championship.
Sgt A. Pharand (yes, him once again) finished second overall in the Junior category. Maj Choinière, Chief RSO for the competition, presented Sgt Pharand with his silver medal.
But Sgt Pharand wasn't the only one to receive a medal. Our team, composed of Cpl M. Halpenny, WO2 S. Lajeunesse, Cpl M. Fransham, Sgt C. Bélanger and Sgt A. Pharand, finished third overall. The President of the Buckingham Legion presented our team with their Bronze Medals. Congratulations to all of you!!
March also saw the Effective Speaking competition take place. Our own Cpl J. Eckold proved to be one of the best in the region - third best overall in fact. Congratulations!
Certificates were recently handed out for graduates of the Junior Ground School programme.
Maj Choinière handed out Gold Certificates to LAC T. Uguccioni and AC B. Ficko. These 2 cadets were the only ones to graduate with an average of 90% or more. Well done!!
Lt Choinière, coordinator of the JGS programme poses with all the graduates of the JGS 1999-00 class. Congratulations to you all!
Lt Choinière also presented certificates of appreciation to WO2 D. Parker and FSgt R. Martineau for giving their own free time to teach parts of the Junior Ground School programme. Thanks a bunch!!!
